Toxic

On the whole, TOXIC relies far too heavily on style, swagger and the familiar KGF-esque aura of Yash, while falling short on a compelling story and emotional connect.

At times, it works. At other times, you can see the two films fighting with each other.

It's a great pity then Mohandas' voice gets sanded under the crushing, loud antics of this blood-soaked saga around men, guns and guilt.

Geetu Mohandas's film succumbs to the very spectacle it is so ambitious about examining.

That is perhaps the great frustration of Toxic. There is a much better film buried inside it.

Toxic is not the clean, crowd-pleasing comeback some fans might have wanted from Yash after KGF: Chapter 2. But honestly, this is the maximum Yash has Yash-ed!

Toxic supplies, without being asked for it, extra doses of everything: modes of dispatch, proof of Raya’s sexual prowess, aphoristic lines, stylised sets and visuals.

Toxic is not the gangster Hollywood-style epic one expected (it has some shades of KGF) but it's an ambitious effort undertaken by Yash and Geetu Mohandas to give the Indian audience a unique experiment and it delivers on that for the most part.

It may be Geetu Mohandas at the helm, but it is finally, and irrevocably, a Rocking Star Yash film, with eye-glazing, endless litany of violence.

Toxic has style and violence in abundance, but substance in short supply.

Geetu had an idea, and Yash had a vision for it. But what we finally receive is a mismatched blend of both.

Toxic is certainly an interesting experiment, and it takes a braveheart to venture into territory such as this.

At times, it feels as though you are watching the movie in 0.75x speed. At 3 hours and 15 minutes, Toxic could have benefited from some serious trimming.
