The film, directed by Rajat Kapoor, has a strong premise with the ingredients of a classic whodunnit: a closed setting, complex character dynamics, and a murder disrupting a celebratory evening. Yet, the execution does not fully live up to this potential. The problem is the film seems more interested in the cracks than the murder itself. That's not entirely a bad thing. The best parts of the film are the quieter, messier moments, the awkward party chatter, the passive-aggressive digs, a game of Dumb Charades that somehow carries more tension than the actual investigation. Kapoor understands how people behave around each other when they'd rather not be in the same room, and that instinct works in the film’s favour in patches.
Haiwaan is not a bad film. It has a good cast, a workable story, with splashes of comedy and a director who knows this material. It is simply a film that needed someone to make it tighter and cut it down to the thriller it could have been.
It is a gripping series that reveals the story of the Indian Air Force's crucial role during the Kargil War, showcasing their bravery under strict diplomatic constraints.
After ‘Panchayat’ and the recent ‘Dupahiya,’ Prime Video returns with another series set in a rural backdrop, ‘Gram Chikitsalay.’ The TVF show introduces Dr Prabhat Sinha (Amol Parashar), a gold medallist from one of India’s top medical colleges, choosing to work as a medical officer (MO) in a fictional Jharkhand village, named Bhatkandi. He's a hopeful man, trying to bring about change and serve the underprivileged. However, his good intentions face an unexpected challenge - despite being an earnest and sincere doctor, the villagers place their trust in the local quack, Chetak Kumar (Vinay Pathak), over him.
Kaalidhar Laapata', directed by Madhumita and led by Abhishek Bachchan, is the Hindi remake of her own Tamil film, 'KD A Karuppu Durai'. While the core storyline remains intact, the Hindi version has its own flavour. The film shines in its heartfelt portrayal of an unlikely bond between a forgotten man and a spirited child. However, it falters in places. Some scenes lack emotional depth and the pacing isn’t always steady. But even with these flaws, 'Kaalidhar Laapata' manages to strike a chord, thanks largely to its honest and affecting performances.
Shweta Keshri of India Today rated it 3/5 stars and stated that "the series is engaging, though predictable in parts, and powered by Madhuri Dixit’s haunting performance.
Runway 34 is a gripping film, inspired by the true story behind the Jet Airways Doha to Kochi flight, 9W 555. Due to bad weather and low visibility, the pilot, in this case, Vikrant, had the impossible choice of attempting a landing that could go either way. Runway 34 is surrounded by a populated area, runway 16 would have been an easier choice, flying off to Bengaluru airport instead would have been by the book. Yet, swag and his unlit cigarette in place, Vikrant lands, just narrowly escaping a crash. Now, narrow escape is not something we can say about Ajay's Twitter flight. Again, another story, another day. What doesn't land is the second half of the film. But that, perhaps, has more to do with Amitabh Bachchan's loud acting, than Ajay's know-it-all swag, which you kind of grow into by this time. Really.
