Who or what is a spy in a Bollywood film? Think Pathaan, Tiger or even Kabir. Hyper-masculine, sculpted bodies, sharp minds and a love story that would put Shakespeare to shame. But then enters the latest recruit, Happy Patel, who is fond of ballet and cooking and proudly dances to 'I am an alpba male'. He fails every mission and is repeatedly slapped by the woman he loves. Vir Das’ directorial debut not only breaks the spy stereotype but also brings back to theatres the loud roars of laughter they had been missing.

Happy Patel is not supposed to make sense, and doesn't even pretend to. But most of the time, it is trying too hard -- which ruins any comedy -- and the jokes fall flat. Still, the silliness is layered with such good cheer that it does get some laughs.
