Sikandar is yet another case of a mass film failing to fulfill its purpose. While the action is the highlight, it still lacks the impact to keep you hooked. The storyline carries potential for emotions but it doesn't work due to half-hearted approach. The dialogues bore you rather then entertaining because the dialogue delivery of actors is as ordinary as writing. Nobody seems interested enough in making a good entertainer.
Rakesh Dhawan & Sunil Dhawan’s screenplay is highly entertaining. There’s hardly any scene in the film which doesn’t make you laugh or emotional. In the whole first half, almost every scene and every dialogue cracks you up and laugh out loud. There comes a situation that you get tired of laughing but our 6 lead stars won’t stop. There was a huge dose of comedy in Chal Mera Putt but this ride gets wilder. A normal person gets serious sometimes in life but these guys talk jokes. Yes, every time they speak they have a new joke or comeback and man! it’s so effective every damn time. I ask how?
Bishnu Dev Halder’s story has nothing new. It’s the same old story of a man stuck between his wife and girlfriend which we have seen so many times. However, the backdrop and circumstances which lead to a situation like this bring in the novelty factor. A lot of us have heard about the sterilization drive that happened in India during the emergency period but this film sheds more light on what actually happened and how it affected the people and their lives. The information is laced with humour which keeps the narrative interesting. The good thing is that the comedy works in several portions. Also, the confusion comedy had high chances of getting repetitive and lead to boredom but the writer has done a good job in keeping it sharp and new.
