The ghosts aren't scary, the cases lack suspense, and the emphasis on paranormal investigation overshadows the potential for deeper explorations into Gaurav's personal life. The real-life footage adds a little interest, but overall, the series struggles to captivate or terrify.

Having come to this point, the direction as well as the writing could have been more solid, as it majorly lacks the proper thrilling element. As it is a crime thriller drama, I expected it to be more suspenseful and gripping, but it was sadly not the case.

But Greater Kalesh makes you realise that it is actually the opposite. Home remains the same, but it is actually the mentality that works in the background.

Speaking about the writing and directing part, it feels slow till the third episode. However, after that episode, things take a serious turn. When Hemant gets to know the real criminal, he freezes, and so do we, but the directing of that part could have been more chilling. However, the effort is nice. The series is more about how Hemant handles the case with a human heart, but not like a rough police officer, which proves that if a criminal can also have a heart-to-heart conversation, if you show humanity. Directed by Shachindra Vats, Janaawar - The Beast Within is a refreshing take on how humanity can change a person, even a criminal. Although the series has a predictable plot, the gripping crime cases hook you into it till the very end, and generally, that's the beauty of a crime drama.

Speaking about the setting of the plot, it is absolutely half-baked and no matter how hard you try, you will want it to stop or rather, skip to the end. The execution is so tedious that you don't need to watch the screen, but closing your eyes and listening to the dialogue would alone do the job. The Great Shamsuddin Family features actors like Kritika Kamra, Farida Jalal, Sheeba Chaddha, Purab Kohli, Shreya Dhanwanthary, Dolly Ahluwalia, Juhi Babbar, Natasha Rastogi and others, but none of their acting stands out, and they do not have any pure expression throughout the film. I would blame the poor execution and direction for this. All the chaos happening at the same time with no solid background is boring to watch.
