Synopsis

The Big Bull

Based on the life of Harshad Mehta, the movie follows the rise and fall of the stock market broker who rose from the chawls of Mumbai and became one of the big players of the Bombay Stock Exchange in the early 1990s, while the country was undergoing major changes in its economy (Economic liberalisation in India).

It will be unfair to compare the web series and the film, but comparisons are natural. One must add here that the web series is better made and presents the story in an entertaining way without unnecessary emotional angles. We are not saying that the web series is devoid of any emotions. From writing, direction, casting and performances, Scam 1992 fares well in every aspect. However, the same isn't true about The Big Bull. The film lags behind in writing as it ends up Bollywoodising the story in an attempt to satisfy the taste buds of Bolly freaks. While the web series lets us decide whether Harshad was a victim or a criminal, while making sure it shows us the person he was, the film shows him as a hero.
