It is this goodness that makes Murthy the easiest character to root for, and Music Shop Murthy is a challenging film to be cynical or sceptical about. Writer-director Siva Paladugu weaves the screenplay with a disarming blend of lightheartedness and optimism. For his first assignment as a backup DJ, Murthy arrives at the party with his assistant on a rickety scooter, with his assistant carrying old-school loudspeakers. When Murthy first decides to learn DJing, he literally draws the DJ console on a piece of paper. Murthy is a dreamer as old-school as they get, and there is an inherent sweetness to his aspirations that makes him very relatable and heartfelt. There’s barely a bleak moment in his journey except for the final act, where the director does a complete U-turn on his disarmed viewers, but more on than later.Read at source

On the whole, Music Shop Murthy has a good premise, but the movie falls short of delivering a satisfactory experience due to its slow screenplay. Ajay Ghosh delivered a praiseworthy performance, and some dialogues were good. Chandini Chowdary also did a neat job, but the predictable narration and forced emotions in the second half acted as the main drawbacks. The intention behind the film is quite good, but the narration could have been much better. Hence, the film ends up being just an okay watch.Read at source
Director Siva Paladugu does not waste time and narrates the first half with decent fun and emotional moments. The friendship of a young girl with an elderly man is also showcased as a conflict point. But luckily, it does not become preachy. Having said all this, where does Music Shop Murthy falter? It is the second half, which has some boring moments. The manner in which Ajay Ghosh comes to Hyderabad and struggles to become a DJ does not create much of an impact. More drama should have been created to showcase the pain that Murthy goes through. The success of Murthy to become a DJ is way too quick and cinematic.Read at source
