But what film are you showing? Is it a pure Bachchan show where the hero can do anything? Yes, go for it. Or is it a tight thriller showcasing the integrity of an officer against a corrupt system? Again yes, go for it. But mix both ingredients in one recipe, it’s an unmitigated disaster. It’s like watching two polar opposite films clubbed in one video. Logics aside, you don’t have a double-masala biryani with sambar-idly; it's not recommended to test your intestine beyond a point. Sure, even a remake can be a great idea given the director’s previous adaptations but the choice of this remake is baffling. It’s like the raid happens on the audience for the sin of expecting a simple, entertaining film.

The biggest problem with Mr Bachchan is that it fails to recreate the tension between the characters essayed by Ravi Teja and Jagapathi Babu. The stakes are never raised, and there is absolutely no doubt in our minds that Bachchan will win in his battle. Of course, we know the hero will win, but what is the fun in watching a one-sided match? Nothing that Jaggaiah does makes us believe he is really that powerful. He comes across as a garden variety head honcho of a village, who is served humble pie by the do-gooder hero. This is a role he has done so many times in his career, and yet, there is a slight interesting twist to it courtesy his mom. In fact, a lot of the characters have some interesting quirks, but they are hardly allowed to blossom.

Harish has a great track record when it comes Telugu adaptations, but he fumbles when it comes to Mr Bachchan. He couldn’t make an entertaining film. One of the biggest assets of Harish is his writing, but he couldn’t do justice to his reputation. Mr Bachchan has several illogical scenes, slapstick comedy, unexciting romantic track and above all, it is a soulless adaptation.

Ravi Teja was all right in his role. There’s nothing much to talk about his performance. Bhagyashri Borse in her Telugu debut looked good and confident on screen. She danced well in all the four songs. However, she may have to quickly improve her acting skills. Satya’s comedy worked in a couple of sequences. Chammak Chandra’s comedy was irritating. The film has so many seasoned actors but none of them was able to create a considerable impact due to poorly written characters.
