Lawho Gouranger Naam Re
The film operates on three distinct timelines, which unfold simultaneously, while often overlapping with each other: The first timeline is set in the 15th-16th century, focusing on the spiritual journey of Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and the mystery of his disappearance from the Jagannath Temple, Puri. The scenes in this timeline are notably blurred in nature, symbolising the obscurity of his life history. The core of this timeline lies in how Nityananda, Chaitanya's friend and disciple, tries to piece together the puzzle of his vanishing. The second timeline is set in the 19th century in North Calcutta, featuring Binodini Dasi aka Nati Binodini, alongside her mentor Girish Chandra Ghosh. The scenes in this timeline are notably almost monochromatic in nature. The core of this timeline lies in how Binodini, quietly rebellious in nature, deeply dissolves into the role of Chaitanya on stage while facing societal and professional betrayal. Also depicted is how Ghosh navigates through the compromises he has to make for theatres, and how he becomes a towering figure in the history of Bengali theatre. It also delves into how she sold herself to a wealthy businessman to build a theatre that ultimately erases her contribution, thanks to Ghosh.
