Luv Ranjan's story is original, especially the various twists and turns. At the same time, they carry his trademark stamp. Tarun Jain and Luv Ranjan's screenplay is full of humour and drama in adequate doses, though the writing gets far-fetched in the second half. Tarun Jain and Luv Ranjan's dialogues are one of the pillars of the film. Certain references to previous films, TV shows etc. will bring the house down. Anshul Sharma's direction is entertaining. He neatly takes the franchise forward and ensures that the tonality of the sequel is the same as part 1. Moreover, the film never drags or slows down. Something or the other is happening in every scene.Read at source

The film sprinkles self-referential humour throughout, nodding to DDLJ, Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Phool Aur Kaante, Shaitaan, Boogie Woogie, and more. While these meta moments often land, the persistent breaking of the fourth wall starts to feel repetitive. The second half is where the momentum slackens: the humour thins, emotional beats stretch, and the narrative grows more predictable than perceptive. What begins as a breezy, spirited rom-com gradually eases into a gentler, less engaging rhythm. Yet, despite its unevenness, De De Pyaar De 2 remains a warm, character-driven comedy that examines second chances, aging, family, and acceptance with a generous heart. It may not soar as high as its first half promises, but it delivers enough laughs, charm, and gentle insight to make the ride worthwhile.Read at source
He plays Adi, the quintessential son of a family friend whose sole purpose is to woo Rakul’s Ayesha and give competition to Ajay’s Ashish. Meezaan, however, convincingly does his good-boy routine. He matches steps with his father (Jaaferi), romances like a cheap imitation of SRK and also gives a little dose of comedy. The film’s main problem though is not a middling performance but the fact that it goes into an abyss where every plot possibility seems fair game. There are plans and counter plans and the twists are akin to an Abbas-Mustan presentation. DDPD 2 is unable to contain the strange narrative floodgates it opens, whose resolution comes unconvincing and disjointed. The climax is so drab and long-drawn that, like its male leads, I too might have developed some grey hair of my own.Read at source
I missed Tabu in this, but R Madhavan’s loving-dad-who-will-do-anything-to-protect-his-daughter is the real star of part 2.Read at source
As for Ajay and Rakul, the chemistry still isn't crackling, but it works well enough to sell the story. There are no intimate moments here, but both play their parts with conviction -- he as the intense, brooding partner, and she as the bubbly, determined young woman refusing to let her father map out her life.Read at source
