Chhorii 2 Movie Story Review: Vishal Furia and Ajay Jagtap's story has all the trappings of a scare fest. But Vishal Furia and Ajay Jagtap's screenplay is weak and hence, the desired impact is not generated. Divya Prakash Dubey and Muktesh Mishra's dialogues are normal.Read at source
Chhorii 2
The story picks up seven years after the events of the first film. Sakshi lives with her now seven-year-old daughter Ishani and Inspector Samar. Ishani suffers from a rare condition that makes sunlight lethal to her — a protection by design to shield her from dark forces. Ishani is suddenly kidnapped by sinister villagers linked to her mother's ex-husband, Rajbir’s village cult. Sakshi and Inspector Samar return to the haunted sugarcane fields and the cursed village to save her daughter and confront supernatural threats. They uncover the cult led by a shape-shifting high-priestess, Daasi Maa, and patriarchal elders engaged in child marriage and sacrificial rituals for immortality. Sakshi discovers eerie underground labyrinths where young brides are imprisoned and exploited. Amidst the scenario, she discovers Rani, who gets killed and dragged away by the still-alive Rajbir. The latter whips Sakshi unconscious and leaves her in the spiraling staircase of a well. When Rajbir returns to drag away Sakshi's body, assuming her to be dead, he is killed by Sakshi, who is possessed by the spirits of Rani and all the murdered women. After this, Sakshi goes to the well to rescue Ishani while Samar fends off the rest of the cult.

From female foeticide to child marriage, Chhorii's running theme of social evils meets spooky scares seeks to engage its viewer by startling and enlightening them in turns. But Director Vishal Furia's limp and unscary sequel achieves neither in spite of his constant dedication to creepy imagery. Heavily relying on paranoia and paranormal alone, this hastily whipped-up follow-up, unlike the first one that slickly adapted Furia's Marathi horror Lapachhapi, is staggeringly devoid of significance and storytelling. Offering nothing more than an empty allegory on patriarchal control, Chhorii 2's bigger crime is how quickly it collapses under the weight of its drowsy momentum and laughable attempt at giving us the heebie-jeebies.Read at source
A horror comedy like 'Stree 2' managed to shock audiences with its multiple spooky moments. Unfortunately, the full-fledged horror-thriller 'Chhorii 2' failed to make any impact. The original film that came in 2021 spoke about female infanticide but also had its many high moments. The sequel, starring Nushratt Bharuccha and Soha Ali Khan, however, gets entangled in the desire to impart a social message, that it fails to scare or entertain audiences - it's the prime job of being a horror thriller.Read at source
Chhorii 2 is written in a way that ensures it has enough scares and constant intriguing junctures that keep the audience busy and invested in the story. The bait at the centre of the story is a 7-year-old girl, and that raises the tension even more. The movie is laced well enough to not let the audience quickly notice the lapses or dips in the screenplay, and there are a few. Like the climax that is so hell-bent on wrapping up everything that it starts running. Changes of heart are very sudden and abrupt; people who couldn’t figure out a single thing are suddenly at the centre of it all. Everything gets blurry after a point because a lot is happening, and the main conflict unfolds like it is not the main highlight. You will see. However, Chhorii 2 gets the messaging a bit faded.Read at source
