Made In India: A Titan Story

In theory, this show doesn't have the ingredients of a traditional underdog story. Yet, much to its credit, Made in India: A Titan Story turns out to be far more engaging than expected.

A few family drama beats feel slightly repetitive, but they don’t break the show’s steady grip. Overall, the series delivers compact, emotionally rich storytelling that feels like a thoughtful throwback to the earnest era of Doordarshan — minus the preachiness.

Robbie Grewal's direction is captivating. He is equipped with a story that not many are aware of – what the Tatas went through to create the Titan brand. The story follows the template of MISSION MANGAL, ROCKET BOYS etc. But in these stories, one can imagine that there must have been hiccups as India was taking a giant leap in the field of space. In that regard, MADE IN INDIA: A TITAN STORY will surprise the viewers. They’ll be stunned to know that the team faced innumerable challenges, despite the backing of Tata, that too for creating a watch brand. Even after the watch entered the market, the challenges didn’t stop. Moreover, the show not just entertains but also enlightens. It educates how the word ‘Titan’ came into being, the story behind the iconic Titan theme etc. and this again would impress the viewers.

Made In India: A Titan Story is at its best a warm, well-intentioned love letter to the spirit of Indian enterprise, to the men and women who believed, in the face of Swiss scepticism and domestic bureaucracy, that India could put a world-class watch on the world's wrist.

Made in India: A Titan Story respects screen time and uses it responsibly to genuinely create affecting moments without over-reliance on building hook-points and adding forced cliffhangers. That way, the show is an engaging, calming palette cleanser, moving at a sombre pace that the new-age media, with its bite-sized tales, is not accustomed to.
