Essay · The TezFlicks journal

Welcome to the TezFlicks journal

Indian cinema has never had a standard home on the web — no shared register for its films, its people, or its studios. We are building one, and this journal is where we write about it.

Walk through the credits of any Indian film and try to find the people online. A director with twenty years of work has no page of record — a scattering of fan wikis, a stale agency profile, a social handle. A production house with a hundred titles has a website last touched a decade ago, if it has one at all. The work is everywhere; the record is nowhere.

TezFlicks is our attempt at that record. Every film, series, person, and studio in our archive gets a page built from source-linked data — release dates, credits, critic consensus, box office, soundtracks — each fact traceable to where we found it. No fabricated filler: where we don’t have a verified value, the page simply doesn’t claim one.

A page worth printing on a business card

The pages we care most about are the portfolios. A director’s page on TezFlicks should be something they would put on a card — name set in type worth reading, the filmography laid out like a printed monograph, honours noted, sources cited in the margin. The same goes for a production house: a letterhead, not a database row.

That is also why the site looks the way it does. We chose paper and ink over the glowing dark grids of streaming apps — this is a journal of cinema, not another place to press play.

What we publish here

The journal is the desk’s own writing: weekly notes on what’s new and what’s worth your time, features on the people behind the work, and occasional reporting on how the industry is changing. Where an article touches a film or a person in the archive, you’ll find their pages linked right below the piece — the writing and the record, joined.

We’re starting small and building in public. If a page about you or your work could be better, the sources at the foot of every page are where we started — tell us where to look next.
